PLACES TO VISIT
October is a busy month here at the Manor House but we still have some mid-week rooms available. So give us a call then hop in the car. I promise the drive will be beautiful.
That is just what Rich and I did yesterday. Once again, we wandered. This time we got lost somewhere across the Massachusetts border while taking a detour beyond New Marlborough. We passed lakes offering no public access so we peeked through the fences and backyards of stately old homes until we came upon a small dirt road leading to a fishing hole.
Our old Subaru does not have GPS. Siri was unavailable in this remote neck of the woods. The rearview mirror doesn’t even have one of those features that lets you know which direction you’re headed-North, South, East, West. But we enjoy getting lost so we continued on, discovering miles of forest and the occasional small town with a coffee shop, for coffee can now be found everywhere. Eventually a small wooden sign on a pole with a lot of other small wooden signs pointed us in the direction of Colebrook which we knew was on the way home.
Later in the evening after checking in our night’s guests, we craved more autumn colors and took a walk into town. Mother Nature did not disappoint.
Not to be outdone, out in the back yard of The Manor House the sky showed her colors too.
We still have mid-week rooms available in October. Give us a call at 860-542-5690 and tell us you visited our new website and blog to receive a 10% discount.
