Our enchanted corner of Connecticut will transport you back to simpler times to savor the picturesque New England countryside. The Alders Estate is convenient to modern amenities but tucked away on five acres in Connecticut’s breathtaking Litchfield Hills in a town where art and nature are savored and celebrated.

We are among a handful of Green Hotels in Connecticut. EV parking is located one block away at City Hall.

Our adult-oriented, nonsmoking property is equally suited for rest and romance, or Back Hills adventures and experiences. Digital detox is highly encouraged. Vintage books, board games, and lawn games abound.

Our Activities Page details dozens of day trip possibilities with biking, hiking, kayaking, and more. If you prefer cultural attractions, there are many museums, galleries, antique shops, and vintage theaters nearby. It’s also an ideal location to enjoy the Connecticut Wine Trail, Connecticut Beer Trail, Covered Bridge Electric Bike Tours, and the Best New England Fall Foliage Drive, not to mention Infinity Music Hall, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival and Yale Summer School of Music are a short walk away.

Dining

We prepare our breakfasts using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, using produce, cheese and jams from some of our incredible local farms. Each morning we serve a two-course breakfast with one seasonal entrée, including guest favorites like orange French toast, tomato and herb frittata with crumbled goat cheese, and blueberry puff pancakes. We happily accommodate special dietary restrictions with 24-hour advance notice including gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, etc. There are also many excellent restaurants along scenic drives. Finally, we work with private Chefs to host special dinners, group experiences, and even cooking classes.

Events & Group Reservations

We love hosting groups! Our property is designed to inspire moments of connection, reflection, and celebration. For guests who want exclusive use of the inn, we offer customized packages for micro-weddings, corporate retreats, think tank collaborations, family & friend reunions, and more.
