Risk More, Write Better: Overcoming fear (of everything) on and off the page
November 8-10, 2019
In this empowering writing retreat, novelist Courtney Maum (Costalegre, I am Having So Much Fun Here Without You) and celebrated cookbook author Alana Chernila (The Homemade Pantry, Eating from the Ground Up) will help writers of all levels identify the emotional blocks that are keeping them from accessing their best (and bravest!) work. This intimate, supportive conference is open to writers from all disciplines, at any stage of their careers.
The weekend will begin with cocktails and dinner, where Courtney and Alana will:
– Talk about the role risk plays in writing
– Identify a fear that’s holding each person back, and game out how we can conquer that fear over the weekend
– Help attendees build up and sustain a literary community and support each other
– Set a goal for the weekend, and set another goal to be accomplished within the next six months
Attendees will have one-on-one consultations with Alana and Courtney on Saturday. You’ll have ample time to write and reflect on your work and explore the charming town of Norfolk and the surrounding area.
