Day Trips: Hudson, NY

Just a little over an hour from the Manor House along a scenic drive through Egremont, MA and across the border into New York is the eclectic, architecturally rich town of Hudson. Hundreds of historic buildings representing every architectural style of the last three centuries can be found here and if you\’re a photography buff you will find yourself snapping hundreds of photos.

The mile long business district on Warren Street has an amazing variety of antique stores. My favorite was Ida’s Eye. The day we visited the owner was working on a spectacular 48 inch Chrystal ceiling fixture she found in an old hotel in Rhode Island. If you are looking for antique lighting this is definitely the place to go. And then there are always hats at Behida Dolic Millenery.

I always enjoy an Indie Bookstore. At the Spotty Dog I found not just books but ale.

And what is a road trip without a visit to a great restaurant? We decided on some tacos, beer, and Sangria at Mexican Radio.
