Norbrook Farm Brewery

Craft Beer Tasting Tour

The plentiful farmland in the Litchfield Hills makes it a natural home for craft breweries and distilleries. Plan a day to explore the unique craft breweries in northwestern Connecticut and enjoy more than just delicious beverages- including live music, fire pits and even hiking and mountain biking trails and a disc golf course! The breweries also feature some of New England’s best food trucks on the weekends, which provide farm-to-table BBQ, lobster rolls, and more.  Discover fantastic, fresh, handcrafted local brews, meet local producers, and take a tour at one or all of these distinctive craft spirit destinations:

Norbrook Farm Brewery

Just 2.5 miles from the inn, Norbrook Farm Brewery has become a favorite spot for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy a good brew. Norbrook offers tastings of their 8 specialty beers, including Dennis Hill Estate Saison, Ol’ Man McMullen’s Porter, Mount Pisgah IPA, and Beckley Furnace Brown Ale, in their large tasting room or outside on the patio. Located on 450 acres of wooded land, Norbrook also offers miles of hiking and mountain biking trails and a disc golf course (open seasonally). It’s a one-of-a-kind adventure!

Great Falls Brewing Company

Located in the recently refurbished Canaan train station, Great Falls Brewing Co. offers craft beers to please diverse beer tastes including Cascadia Farewell IPA, Derailed Brown Ale, Lazy Hazy Housy New England IPA and Canaan Mountain Lager.  Enjoy the fun Great Falls brewpub complete with food delivered from local eateries. And don’t miss their Monday night Dart Tournaments!

Little Red Barn Brewers

True to its name, two brothers started this business in 2013 in a small red barn in Barkhamstead.  In 2017, they opened a tasting room in nearby Winsted, where they offer a large selection of hand crafted brews, including Mad River Pilsner, Squires Tavern Ale, Rescue Red, Cow Tippin’ Copper Ale, Roll in the Hay Double IPA, and more. LRB is popular for live music and food from some of the best food trucks in New England.

Big Elm Brewing

Across the Massachusetts border on historic Rt. 7, you’ll find Big Elm Brewing, where you can taste a flight of award-winning lagers, ales, stouts, and IPAs. Keep an eye on their calendar for special events such as Yoga and Beer (how awesome is that?!?) and beer release parties with live music.

Berkshire Mountain Distillers (BMD)

Your visit won’t be complete without visiting Berkshire Mountain Distillers (BMD).  Established in 2007, BMD has created a line of award-winning artisanal spirits including Greylock Gin, Ethereal Gins, Ragged Mountain Rum, Ice Glen Vodka, and Berkshire Bourbon, all handcrafted in small batches in Sheffield, Massachusetts. BMD is one of the founding members of the craft distiller movement and their products have received national praise. As supporters of local agriculture and business, BMD uses locally sourced materials in their products and grows many of their own herbs, creating a truly authentic, artisanal brand.
